DOWNLOAD of Monolithic Proportions
An EP from Yahzeed produced by Preservation.
Released MAY 23, 2014.
Originally from New Jersey, but coming up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Yahzeed sharpened his lyrical skills by freestyling in ciphers on the streets, as well as performing for live crowds. Following the release of “Shyne” on Preservation’s Old Numbers compilation, Yahzeed continues to explore the short song format. Each of the 7-tracks, although short in length, are proportioned to highlight the emotional weight of the vivid story it delivers.
“I first envisioned the songs as longer, but then I began to appreciate the short and to-the-point style. It reminds me of 80’s hardcore and punk songs that were short and powerful, demanding a repeat listen.”
“This album is special because it comes at a time in my life where connections are being made, where one realizes it's bigger than himself, bigger than life… hence, the title, Of Monolithic Proportions. I was more concerned with quality rather quantity, and besides, people's attention spans are quite short these days.” - Yahzeed
